INVADER
PARIS // FRANCE
Invader is a French artist whose tile mosaic artworks take on the pixelation of 1970s- and 1980s-era video games. He started this art game in which he is the only player in the streets of his own hometown, in Paris in 1998, and it quickly went international, with more than 85 cities “invaded” to date. One of his pieces, “Space2,” even found its way into space via the International Space Station in 2015. In addition to these distinctive street installations, which he systematically documents, Invader has developed a thriving sticker practice and has placed them in each of his invaded cities throughout the world. His latest sticker packs which he sold as a limited edition spread a pro-vegetarian message through the streets of Paris, with phrases like We Come In Peace, We Don’t Eat Flesh.
